Here are some Survival Tips for Summer Heat!

When you think of summer, what images come into your mind?

Is it the idea of lying on a beach, swimming in a creek or just relaxing with your mates, a cold beer and a barbecue?

No matter what your thoughts are, we can’t escape the knowledge that it’s going to be hot. REALLY hot.  And whether you love the heat, or hate it, there are plenty of ways to ensure you make it through the summer season alive and happy.

  • Drink plenty of water and keep the fridge & freezer stocked with bottles.
  • Dress for the heat. Natural fabrics are the best & lighter colours will help reflect the sun.
  •  Stock up on fans if you don’t have an air conditioner, but to save power, choose just one room where you will spend most of your time and circulate the air through that room. 
  • If it’s too hot during the day to do the chores, leave it until night when it’s cooler.
  • Eat fresh!  Avoid using the oven or stove and instead make a cold salad or have some fruit.
  •  Use sunblock!! This will not only prevent you getting burnt, but could also help prevent you getting skin cancer further down the track. Trust me you do NOT want to skip this one!
  • Don’t forget your hat!!
  • Swim between the flags! Our beaches can be dangerous, don’t risk it!
