At the Billabong Sanctuary you can get up close and personal with more than 100 species of native Australian mammals, birds and reptiles.

Located in North Queensland, 17km from Townsville, the Billabong Sanctuary is set on 11 hectares of tropical bushland.

The natural billabong in the centre of the sanctuary is host to an array of animals, many of whom also breed and raise their young on the property.

Kangaroos, Koalas, snakes, crocodiles and lizards are just a few of the local residents you don’t want to miss!

There are three representative habitats – rainforest, eucalypt woodland and wetlands – all set around the billabong.

Many of the animals and birds in the park are free-ranging. And for those that need to be protected, enclosures are designed to best replicate the animal’s habitat in the wild.
